FIND OUT WHAT YOUR SKIN TYPE IS

Do you wonder what your skin type is? Or maybe you have no idea how to identify it?

Well, worry not because I’m here to help you! But let’s start with the basics first.

WHY SHOULD I KNOW MY SKIN TYPE?

The answer is very simple. Knowing your skin type will help you take proper care of your skin. As you may know different skins need different treatment.

Okay, but how do I identify it???

Two most popular methods are: the “watch and wait” and the blotting sheet. For both of these methods you have to wash your face with a gentle cleanser, pat it dry with soft towel and then wait for at least 30 minutes.

Now for the “watch and wait” method, take a look at your skin in the mirror. If:

  • Your skin appears to be shiny and feel greasy – throughout the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) – you have oily skin
  • Your skin is rough and tight-feeling – you have dry skin
  • Your skin is oily only around T-zone – you might hve combination skin
  • Your skin is hydrated, neither oily nor dry – you likely have normal skin

Second method the blotting sheet, after washing and drying your face, press blotting sheet or one layer of tissue to various areas of your face. Then hold it up to the light see the amout of sebum it absorbed.

  • If every sheet soaked up an abudance of oil – you have oily skin
  • If it absorbed little to no oil – you have dey skin
  • If sheets pick up oil only from your T-zone – you probably have combination skin
  • If from every area of your face there is a little of oil – you likely have normal skin

You might have noticed I didn’t mention sensitive skin. It’s because this skin type isn’t determined by how much sebum your skin is producing. Although it’s usually classified as its own skin type you still can expearience sensitivity. It’s possible to have dry and sensitive skin, combination and sensitive etc.
